The 163 rd medical dental mission of the Sugar Industry Foundation Inc., in cooperation with Tolong Sugar Milling Co. Inc., Tompuco and TSPA, and in coordination with the Sta. Catalina local government, and Brgy. Council of Cawitan, was held in the barangay hall recently, a press release from SIFI said.
It added that 257 sugar workers from nearby haciendas, small planters and their families benefited from the activity, and 223 availed of free medical consultations and medicines, 34 had dental extractions, and 200 children and some adults were fed.
The SIFI was assisted by the Tolong Sugar Milling Co. Inc., represented by Genesa Estrada, Harland Tuso, Roderick Salva and Joji Conindo; Tolong Multi-Purpose Cooperative, headed by its OIC manager Erwin Claveria and staff; Tolong Sugarcane Planters Association, led by Clavelita Rodriguez, with Ma. Jonelyn Villaflores, Roseller Pampilo and Kathreen Diann Abrasaldo.
Brgy. Cawitan is headed by its captain, Lucita Raganas, with Isabel Catulin, Romeo Meniano and Arnulfo Badon, barangay health workers and midwife Neriza Badon, supported by Czyl Kristhyl Anito of NDP/HFEP. The doctors who joined in the mission were Jenny June Tigbao and Victor Nuico, and dentist Peter Junjie Estenoso, the press release said.
The outreach is part of the thrust of SIFI to provide medical, dental services and health education to sugar workers and their families, the press release added.*
