Mayo Salazar unloaded 12 points in the first quarter as Team A beat Team Y, 85-69, in a recent match-up of YBAC 3rd Conference Basketball Tournament played at the STI-West Negros University gym.

With the win, Team A kept its record unblemished after four games.

In the other game, Team B held down Team C, 108-94, to take the No.2 spot in the team standings.

Salazar's inspired performance in the first quarter paved the way for a sizzling 30-19 advantage for Team A as teammates Jayson Cagayanan and Ritchie Yanson's combined for 14 points, while Mario Reyes tried to keep Team Y within striking distance with 9 points.

As defense on both sides toughened in the second quarter, Team A managed to get away with 14 points while Team Y nailed 12 markers for a 44-31 score at halftime in favor of Team A.

Team Y rallied in the third canto and outscored Team A, 17-15, with Reyes dropping 6 points but it was not not enough to cut Team A's double digit lead at the end of the quarter, 59-48.

Backstopping Salazar were Yanson with 13 points as Marlon Caballero added 11markers while Eric Deloria, Cagayanan, Alejandro Rosales, and Abraham Magay delivered 8 points apiece. Rudy Nonato and Narciso Galang shared 6 points each, and Joenel Anico chipped in 2 points.

Reyes paced Team Y with 23 points, Vincent Javelosa added 11, Bong Ibe with 8 points, Ricks Ramos hit 7, Charles Gever, Romy Sibolboro, Christopher Ong, John Chua and Raymart Pandanduyan shared for 21 points.

Meanwhile, Team B unleashed 13 three-point bombs, 7 of them from lead scorer Amit Teruel and 3 from lawyer Arnel Lapore to tame Team C.

Teruel finished with a game-high 30 points while Kokoy Pendon added 22 markers, 14 of them in the fourth quarter, while Lapore tallied 11 markers.

Gherson Sipe and Ernie Castillo contributed 8 points each while, Carlos Centeno, Patricio, Buenaflor, Jayson Olivar, Fortunato Lim, Art Memoria, and Jojo Chua combined for 29 points.

Badong Eufre spearheaded Team C with 27 points. Emil Guanzon scored 19, Edwin Fregil with 17 points, while Pete Apura shot 9 points, Nathaniel Bacaron with 8, Oscar Aquino with 7, Danny Chua and Marty Cadagat combined for 7 points.*
