Landowners to file
suit for compensation
BY SHIELA GELERA

The 11 property owners at Buri Road in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City, have decided to pursue Monday the filing of a complaint for just compensation, against the Department of Public Works and Highways and the city government, when the ultimatum they set lapsed yesterday.

Pauline Nuega, lawyer of the property owners, said representatives of the DPWH and the Bacolod government failed to meet with them yesterday for updates on the issue of just compensation.

Nuega said they would give more time for DPWH and the city government to settle the issue if they ask for an extension, however, both agencies did not seek for it.

The property owners are readying the documents needed for the filing of complaint as a civil action, and will let the court decide who is liable to pay her clients with just compensation, she said.*SGG
