SRA investigating attempt to
smuggle P100M in sugar
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Sugar Regulatory Administration is investigating those responsible for the attempt to smuggle P100 million worth of sugar into the country, and using President Benigno Aquino's name in an attempt to seek the release of the shipment held by the Bureau of Customs.

Those found guilty of such illegal and highly reprehensible act, will be blacklisted by the SRA, in addition to other sanctions which can be imposed under the mandate of the agency, SRA administrator Ma. Regina Martin said yesterday.

Martin lauded the Bureau of Customs (BoC) for resisting reported attempts or intercessions to unscrupulously seek the release of the seized smuggled sugar.moremoremore

NEA orders ouster
of Ceneco director

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

A member of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative Board of Directors Eduardo Gasambelo, was disqualified by the National Electrification Administration for failing to qualify as a member in good standing when he ran for reelection in April 2014, Ceneco president Arnel Lapore said yesterday.

Former Ceneco director, Roy Cordova, said he filed a disqualification case against Gasambelo before the Ceneco screening committee for his failure to return a laptop and radio receiver issued by Ceneco and because of alleged unliquidated cash advances based on audit findings.

Lapore said they received the July 20 order of NEA for the ouster of Gasambelo from the Ceneco Board on September 18. moremoremore
