I'm a victim: Monico
Suspension executory immediately - Bayatan
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO
Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella yesterday said he believes that he is just a victim of politics since the graft case involving overpriced computer packages was filed against him eight years ago.
Puentevella said that under the justice system, if no case has been filed against a person within three years, it should be dismissed on the grounds of speedy disposition.
This was his reaction to the resolution of the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division order ing his preventive suspension for 90 days, effective immediately.
Rep. Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District) yesterday said for the first time P2 billion has already been allocated in the 2016 national budget for programs to boost the sugar industry, and he is pushing for an additional P10 billion for farm to mill roads.
The Department of Public Works and Highways has savings of P33 billion from this year's budget and he is asking that P10 billion be used for farm to mill roads in sugarcane areas around the country, Benitez said.
Meanwhile, the national government allocated P2 billion for the sugar industry in its 2016 budget as stipulated in Republic Act 10659 or the Sugarcane Industry Development Act, authored by Benitez.
