2 women slain by kin
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A woman was stabbed dead allegedly by her own son in EB Magalona town on Wednesday, while a husband hacked his wife with a cane cutter in Cadiz City, the next day, police records show.

Grace Villanueva,42, died at a hospital in Bacolod City yesterday, of multiple hack wounds inflicted by her husband, Jimmy, on Thursday in Hacienda Cana-an, Brgy. Mabini, Cadiz City, police chief Supt. Arnel Arpon said.

Investigations by the Cadiz police showed that Villanueva, who had been separated from her husband for almost two years, went to the hacienda, to ask for support for their six children.

Jimmy, who had been charged in court for economic abuse by his wife, reportedly got mad, and hacked her several times with a cane cutter, with the fatal one hitting her neck, Arpon said.

The suspect, who was reportedly living with another woman in the hacienda, immediately fled, after the hacking.

Cadiz policemen who responded to the hacking incident, recovered the cane cutter used in the killing.

In Brgy. Pasil, EB Magalona, Wednesday a sexagenarian was stabbed to death by her own son, who was under the influence of alcoholic liquor.

Senior Inspector Arnold Mesias, EB Magalona police chief, yesterday identified the victim as Susana Politod,67. She succumbed to three stab wounds in the left breast and in the abdomen.

The suspect identified as Vicente Politod, 40, immediately fled, after the killing, Mesias said.

Investigations by the EB Magalona police showed that the suspect and his mother had a misunderstanding that, the police said, may have triggered the stabbing incident.* GPB
