PROV'L TREASURER SAYS
Globe agrees to pay tax
BY ROMY AMARADO

The Negros Oriental Provincial Treasurer's Office will meet treasurers of towns and cities where Globe Telecom Inc. has taxable facilities, Friday, to determine the company's tax obligations from 2008, Provincial Treasurer Danilo Mendez said yesterday.

This was after Sol Grandioso David, head of the company's Government Regulatory Compliance Department, in a letter dated August 28, 2012, requested the provincial government to bill the company, Mendez told the DAILY STAR.

He said the company assured that it will pay its real property taxes from 2008.

Mendez said he hopes that Smart and Sun will also pay their real property taxes, adding the provincial government has been communicating with them on their obligations.

He said that with Globe's commitment to pay taxes, the collection of the province will increase this year. Mendez said the funds will be divided equally by the LGUs that collected the money and the provincial government.*RA
