The Bacolod City Public Employment Service Office deployed 2, 897 workers last month, 2,730 of whom were placed locally and 167 abroad, Moises de la Cruz, PESO manager said, yesterday.
De la Cruz said the increase in job hiring of local companies shows that Bacolod City is drawing in more companies to invest, thus providing jobs for Bacoleños.
He said most of the in-demand jobs in Bacolod are call center agents, accountants, security guards, clerks, and engineers.
Overseas job placement also doubled last month compared to April with only 84 workers placed, De la Paz said.
He also said works abroad in demand are for domestic helpers, nurses, receptionists, service crews, waitresses, room attendants, autocad operators, and welders.
Meanwhile, today is the last day of pre-registration for the jobs fair on Friday and Saturday at Robinsons Place-Bacolod as part of the 74th Charter Celebration of Bacolod City.
The job fair will be joined by 60 local and overseas companies and is in cooperation with ABS-CBN Bacolod, de la Cruz said. *LTG
