5th clean-up today

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson are expected to lead City and Bacolod City College volunteers, who will stage the fifth clean up drive today.

They will descend on the loop starting from Alijis-Murcia Road corner Araneta Street, going East to Alijis-Murcia Road cor. City High-Mansilingan Road and veering West to City High-Mansilingan Road corner Taculing Road. Another roadway they will work on is the stretch starting from City High-Mansilingan Road cor. Carlos Hilado Memorial Circumferential Road on the south and moving North to City High-Mansilingan Road cor. Carlos Hilado Memorial Circumferential Road, a City Hall press release said.

The City and BCC volunteers will concentrate their efforts on cutting and trimming grasses and weeds and sweeping off dirt and litters Task Force Clean and Green Overall Chairman Myrna Servando of the Lions Club, said.

“I am well aware that City volunteers have done a lot already but I am still hoping that they will do more, especially because we are cleaning roadways leading to the Panaad Sports Stadium, the venue of the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Meet,” Leonardia said.

Today, barangay captains will also lead residents in cleaning-up their communities. The activity is expected to usher in a massive information and education campaign reintroducing waste segregation at source.*
