3 killed in shooting,
stabbing incidents

Two women and a man were killed in shooting and stabbing incidents from March 6 to 8 in Cauayan, and the cities of San Carlos and Sipalay, Negros Occidental, police records show.

Land conflict reportedly triggered the fatal shooting of Marlon Bautista Soguillon in Sitio Palao, Brgy. Caliling, Cauayan, on March 8, police investigations showed.

The two suspects who allegedly shot Soguillon were identified by the Cauayan police as Efren Bautista and his brother, Abraham, who are cousins of the victim.

The Bautista brothers escaped after shooting the victim, who was declared dead on arrival at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, the police said.

A day earlier, three unidentified suspects also shot and killed Rosalinda Jepanaga,26, in Sitio Masaba, Brgy. Maricalum, Sipalay City.

A police team led by PO3 Emmanuel Villanueva found the body of Jepanaga about 30 meters from her residence.

Dante Jepanaga told the Sipalay police that his wife, who was shot in the back by three unidentified suspects, was declared dead on arrival at the Sipalay City Health Office.

A murder charge is also being readied by the police against Jojo Baynosa, 26, for the death of his live-in partner, identified as Purcisa Caparida, March 6 in Brgy. 6, San Carlos City, police records showed.

Caparida, 24, succumbed to multiple stab wounds after she was stabbed allegedly by Baynosa, who fled after the incident, the police said.*GPB

Robbery suspect arrested

One of the two robbers who allegedly held up an Indian national was apprehended in a follow-up operation at about 3 p.m. Wednesday in Bago City, Negros Occidental.

Bago City police chief, Supt. Simeon Gane, identified the suspect as Jake Palmes Francisco, 28, of Brgy. Canroma in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental.

Gane said Francisco was apprehended at Crossing Mining, Brgy Ma-ao minutes after the robbery, while his companion, whose name was not disclosed, evaded arrest.

Complainant Narinder Singh, 23, of Brgy Villamonte, Bacolod City, a moneylender, told the police he was riding his 125 Honda Wave motorcycle on his way home when Francisco and his companion blocked his way.

Singh claimed one of the suspects threatened him with a .45 caliber pistol, took his P1,000 in cash, and his cellular phone.They also used his motorcycle as getaway vehicle.

A cellular phone, P850 in cash, a .45 caliber Armscor pistol, bearing serial number 7833 and loaded with eight live ammunitions, and a blue 125 Honda Wave, bearing plate # Q3055, were recovered from Francisco during his arrest, police records showed.

Francisco is detained at the lock-up cell of the Bago City Police and robbery charges are readied readied against him.*APN
