Two gasoline stations, earlier found to have defective business permits, have already complied with requirements, Permits and Licensing Division acting head Vicente Petierre III said yesterday.

Petierre said one of the gasoline stations inspected last week by the task force led by Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson has already applied for an additional line of business at his office.

He said another gasoline station that had no business permit displayed in its establishment during the inspection, had actually secured one but it was brought by the owner to Cebu. They were informed of this matter a day after the inspection was conducted, he added.

Petierre said they reminded the owner of Pryce Gas to display its business permit and not bring it outside the establishment.

He said the gas station whose pumping machine was not accurately calibrated was given a certain period to rectify it.

Meanwhile, Petierre said, they will conduct permits-mapping after the Holy Week to be fair to those who have renewed and applied for business permits.

He said they will compel businessmen who have not applied or renewed their business permits to do so since the deadline is tomorrow.

Petierre said they will ensure that businessmen comply, or the city will file a case against them to collect surcharges or taxes, and, in extreme cases, close down their establishment, which they do not want to happen.

Closure will only be implemented if the establishment owner refuses to pay taxes, he said.

Petierre said that, as of yesterday, their total collection from the renewal of business permits was P246 million.

Earlier, he had said, that those who pay their taxes in full will be entitled to 10 percent discount if they pay on time. He appealed to tax payers to renew their business permits and pay their taxes on or before the deadline tomorrow, to avoid being imposed the penalties of 25 percent.*CGS
