MassKara logo replica
competition launched

Where are the eight giant replica letters of the 2012 MassKara Festival logo?

After moving from the Bacolod Government Center, where it was first unveiled in July, to various hosts in the city, the letters are now in eight places where you can take a photo of yourself with them, and win a prize.

Robinsons Place Bacolod and Lifestyles Bacolod magazine are conducting a contest on who can have their photos taken with all the letters and win a prize, festival director Eli Tajanlangit said in a press release.

To participate in the Robinsons Place contest, those interested can have their pictures printed at Picture City in the mall for a minimal fee of P45 and leave the photos with Customer Service. The photos will be put on a wall, and the most creative among them will be given P5,000.

In the Lifestyles Bacolod contest, participants can upload all eight photos on the magazine’s Facebook page. The most creative will also get P5,000.

Contests run until Oct. 31. Clue on the letters' locations: check out where they have been.

The giant replica of the MassKara logo, painted in eight big letters, were created by nine emerging artists of Bacolod: M - Emilio Montelibano, A - Susanito Sarnate, S - Claudine Joyce Ballesteros, S - JR Delleva, K - Guenievere Decena, A - Hilario Campos III, R - Roderick Tijing, and A - Peter James Fantinalgo. Multimedia artist Daryl Jimenea is the ninth artist, the press release also said.

They worked under the direction of three creative consultants - Rudy Reveche, Raymond Legaspi and Charlie Co.

Centered on the theme, “Life’s Good in Bacolod,” each of the eight artists were assigned one letter from the word MASSKARA to design, showcasing the abundant life in the “City of Smiles.” The ninth artist put all the artwork together in digital form.

Tajanlangit said this year’s festival logo is a statement of Bacolod’s vibrant, dynamic and thriving art scene, and also captures the tourism attractions of the city, the press release added.*
