The Sampaguita affair

I can never say “No” to Lion president Rebecca “Dang” Filasol's invitations to the installation of the new set of officers and the induction of new members of the Bacolod City Sampaguita Lions Club that she now leads at the Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City Saturday.

The Sampaguita Hall was filled with lovely ladies in their fashionable gowns and formal attire, and the gentlemen were dapper in coat and tie. So many familiar faces, from sister clubs and other organizations, were seen at the program that started with an invocation, prayers, welcome remarks and the induction and installation highlights, with entertaining numbers in between that spiced up the event.

The new officers were introduced by Lion treasurer Irene Ylanan. Aside from president Dang and Irene, the other officers are Mitzie Mijares, 1 st vice president; Gloria Gensoli, 2 nd VP; Mely Gonzales, 3 rd VP; Ma. Fe Jarder, secretary; Charice Ilon, assistant secretary; Cristina Antonio, assistant treasurer; Anita Hechanova, auditor; and Cristina Magbujos, public relations officer.

Mayor Bing Leonardia gave an inspirational message, Ramon Roque the congratulatory message, and former Las Piñas Rep. Cynthia Villar inspired all in attendance with her keynote address as guest of honor.
