Local jins bring
home eight golds

Former Palarong Pambansa gold medalist Ma. Daphne Alindagon led the roster of gold medalists for Negros Occidental in the regional Palaro taekwondo competitions at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

Alindogan dominated the featherweight division of the high school girls' category to spearhead the second-place finish of the hosts in the category.

Ferdinand Tomas and Dave Malunes struck gold in the boys' division, ensuring that Negros' keeps the title it won last year in Roxas City, Capiz. Tomas copped the flyweight crown, before Malunes prevailed in the lightweight division. The elementary girls' team proved to be the most productive squad for Negros, winning three of the six golds at stake in the category. Krystel Kuan topped the 144-152 cm. division to follow up the victories of Ferbroanne Chion in the 152-160 cm. and Marjorie Bregondo in the 160-168 cm.

In the elementary boys' category, Negrense Ronnie Dela Cruz ruled the 152-160 cm. contest, while Micoh Mana triumphed in the 160-168 class to pave the way for a Negros sweep of the elementary crowns. *CPT
