Tindahan Natin monitored

The National Food Authority in Oriental Negros is monitoring the operation of the Tindahan Natin outlets, assistant provincial administrator Francisco Lorico Jr. said.

He said these outlets should sell NFA rice only to individuals residing in the community, and that, every family covered will be listed as recipients of the Tindahan Natin outlets in order to avail of 14 kilos of NFA rice every week, at P18 per kilo.

The strict monitoring is in line with reports that some Tindahan Natin outlets in the country have been caught selling commercial rice and converting NFA rice to commercial ones. Lorico said under NFA rules and implementing guidelines , all Tindahan Natin outlets can only sell NFA rice, not corn grits.

Although no one has been caught violating the rules in the province, Lorico said a team of NFA inspectors, Department of Social Welfare and Development representative and barangay officials will monitor the program implementation.

Lorico urged the community to be vigilant and report to the nearest authorities any irregularity in the Tindahan Natin operation.*MA
