Victorias, USLS first to finals
SILAY, LCC SPIKERS TOP U-14 ELIMINATIONS

Victorias City and the University of St. La Salle topped the boys and girls' 16-Under divisions, respectively, at the end of the elimination round of the 17th NOVA-NOCSF Age-group Volleyball Championships at the USLS College Covered Court.

Victorias led the four remaining teams in the Under-16 boys' division with a 5-0 win-loss record, after a 25-23, 26-24 squeaker over USLS. Joining Victorias in the page system finals are St. Joseph's-La Salle, USLS and Bacolod City National High School.

SJS-LS eliminated Mansilingan Christian Academy, 25-16, 25-22. USLS also advanced with a 25-19, 25-17 triumph over La Consolacion College-Main.

The win improved USLS' record to 3-2, good for third spot, ahead of BCNHS (2-3).

St. La Salle's volleybelles, on the other hand, maintained their No. 1 rank in the Bracket B of the 16-Under girls' hostilities by adding two wins, following victories over St. John's Institute, 25-18, 25-20, and St. Joseph-La Salle, 30-28, 25-23.

La Carlota emerged as the top team in Bracket A with a 3-0 record. The La Carlota spikers came from behind to trounce Escalante City, 13-25, 25-15, 25-15, before smashing St. Benilde School, 25-8, 25-10.

Negros Occidental High School trails USLS, despite victories against Bacolod Christian Center, 25-16, 25-17 and SJI, 18-25, 25-19, 25-8. SJS-LS grabbed third spot with two wins against two losses.

Escalante City recovered from its defeat against La Carlota City and snatched the second place in the Bracket A, after crushing MCA, 25-18, 25-21. MCA was relegated to third in the group.

In the girls' 14-Under tournament, Silay City downed LCC-M, 25-11, 25-14 to finish the elimination round with a 5-0 slate. SJI claimed the second spot, following a 25-19, 25-14 win, while Talisay City ranked third after puling off a 25-22, 24-26, 25-8 win over SJS-LS. LCC-Main is in fourth with two wins and three losses.

In contrast, LCC boys' Under-14 spikers claimed two consecutive straight-set victories against USLS, 25-19, 25-19, and LCA-Murcia, 25-14, 25-14.

NOHS scored a 25-15, 25-17 over LCA-Murcia to grab second spot. The La Sallians are in third with a single win. *PP
