Five nabbed
for gambling

Five town residents are now in jail after their arrest Saturday for violation of Republic Act 9287, or illegal gambling, in Brgy. 2 poblacion, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.

Nabbed were John Renato Gonzales, 19; Jesus Gonzales, 49; Antonio Gonzales, 56; Renato Maja,68; and Maruy Grace Puray, 26, all of the barangay.

Senior Inspector Santiago Rapiz, E.B. Magalona police chief, yesterday said the arrest of the five suspects yielded P1,232 in cash believed to be gambling bets, two sets of playing cards, a table and chairs.

Rapiz said charges for violation of RA 9287 will be filed today against the detained suspects.*GPB
