Soldier facing rob raps
jailed in Kabankalan

An Army soldier facing charges for robbery with violence against, or intimidation of persons, is now in jail in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, after failing to post the recommended bail of P100,000, police records show.

Army Cpl. Jimmy Manugas,40, gave himself up to the Kabankalan City Police Station on April 24, upon learning that he has a pending arrest warrant issued by Judge Henry Arles, a day before the judge was killed in Ilog town.

Manugas is a resident of Purok Fire Tree, Brgy. Tabugon, Kabankalan City.

On Wednesday, a suspect in a case of attempted rape was apprehended by a police team led by SPO4 Edmundo Acosido in Brgy. Bacong, Bago City, by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Frances Guanzon.

Guanzon recommended P120,000 bail for the arrested suspect, identified as Egleserio Mahilom,37, who is now detained at the Bago City Police Station jail.

On the same day, Senior Inspector Romeo Vargas also reported the apprehension of Martin Dizon Sr., a retired government employee, in Brgy. Haba, Candoni, by virtue an arrest warrant issued by Judge George Patriarca for the crime of frustrated murder.

Dizon is presently detained at the Candoni Police Station jail.*GPB

2 served arrest
warrants in jail

Two inmates of the Bacolod City District Jail in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City, were served arrest warrants for cattle rustling and robbery, by Station 2 policemen, at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos, identified the inmates as Rodney Binatlao, 25, of Purok Isidro in Brgy. Granada and Randy Dela Torre, 22, of Purok Boulevard in Brgy. 14, both in Bacolod.

Regional Trial Court Judge Judge Fernando Elumba issued the arrest warrants to Binatlao for cattle rustling and Dela Torre for robbery.

Bacolod City police director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said that they will intensify the arrest of wanted personalities since the city ranked second in Region 6, with the most number of wanted personalities still unaccounted for.

PRO-6 records showed that Bacolod has 833 wanted personalities as of January this year, while there were only 415 in other towns and cities in Negros Occidental.

Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, regional police director of Western Visayas, admitted that all police units in Region 6 fell short in their performance in terms of accounting for wanted persons.*APN
