Bloodied Marquez
knocks out Pacquiao

LAS VEGAS — A bloodied Juan Manuel Marquez rallied to knock out eight division champ Manny Pacquiao with one second left in the sixth round and win the fourth fight of their epic boxing rivalry.

The 39-year-old Marquez, who suffered a broken nose and possible concussion, dropped Pacquiao face first to the canvas, giving him his first victory over the Filipino superstar.

Marquez knocked Pacquiao down in the third round then ended the fight with a savage overhand right that hit Pacquiao flush, sending him down hard.

Azkals, Singapore in
goalless draw

It was a fierce Singapore side that the Philippine Azkals encountered Saturday night as the two teams battled to a goalless draw in their first semifinal encounter in the AFF Suzuki Cup at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

Unlike in their friendly matches this year where the Azkals prevailed, the Lions were more aggressive, their defense quick, while the Filipinos struggled in the first 45 minutes, unable to capitalize on several penalties awarded to them.

Coach Michael Weiss said the team played better in the second half. He noted that the Azkals were more cautious in the first 45 minutes.
