48 scholars hired at
Bacolod BPOs

Forty-eight scholars under the Training for Work Scholarship Program of the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center are now working in  call centers in Bacolod City, a press release from NOLITC said.

The scholars, coming from  various towns and cities in the province have completed the mandatory 100-hour training program initiated by the provincial government in collaboration with the Technology Education and Skills Development Authority.

The recently employed graduates of NOLITC were hired by three major call centers operators in Bacolod  like  Transcom, Panasiatic and Teletech, all of which have been working in partnership with the Learning Center as one of their resource centers for agents.

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon said “This program will not only help lower our unemployment rate in the province but will also spur the local economy.”

He also encourage  local government units to actively participate in the program to help our youths particularly the indigent and deserving ones.

NOLITC’s officer-in-charge, Ma. Cristina Orbecido, said “This constitutes a 72 percent employment rate of our graduates, higher than what we have targeted and we are hopeful that this trend will continue.”

She attributed the success to the staff and instructors of NOLITC who have “dedicated so much to guide and motivate our students to do well and ensure they secure job placements among our partners.”

Thirty-eight TWSP scholars completed their training  Friday with TESDA Provincial Director Lorena Yunque, as guest speaker, together with Executive Assistant to the Mayor of Sagay, Arthur Marañon, and Talisay City PESO Coordinator Gilbert Robles, representing their  mayors in the culmination ceremony.

The Learning Center continues to offer TESDA Registered Courses like Contact Center Services NCII, the English Language Proficiency and Finishing Course for Call Center Agents NCII.*
