Police rescue ‘sex workers’
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Fifteen commercial sex workers, two of them minors, were rescued by joint operatives of the Bacolod City Police Women’s and Children Complaints Desk and the Special Operations Group at Lacson Street and in Brgy. Singcang Airport on Saturday.

SOG head, Supt. Santiago Rapiz said they arrested three pimps who are now detained at Police Stations 2 and 8.

Rapiz said the rescue was made after a commercial sex worker sought the help of a television network from Manila, claiming that they are being abused.

Eight CSWs were rescued at about 7:30 p.m. near a hotel at Lacson Street while the rest were rescued at about 8 p.m. from a motel in Brgy. Singcang Airport.

Rapiz said that, in coordination with the Bacolod City police, the television network conducted an entrapment operation , where they hired a man to act as a customer.

He said they arrested the pimps after they received money from the man.

The women will serve as witnesses against the pimps, who are now facing charge for violation of Article 202 Revised Penal Code of the Philippines.*APN
