10 apprehended
for illegal fishing

Ten fishermen were arrested by Bantay Dagat members and the police at the shorelines of the towns of E. B. Magalona and Binalbagan, Negros Occidental at about 9 a.m. Wednesday for illegal fishing.

Arnel Pamoladia, 43 and Welson Narsiso, 37 of Brgy. Aguisan; Mario Natad, 27, of Teven Amosalan, 27, of Brgy. Saraet of Himamaylan City; Rey Cordero, 30 and Jojo Yang-yang, 25, John Dela Cruz, 33 and Richard Elodipa, 40, of Brgy. Tagda in Hinigaran, were caught at the shorelines of Brgy. Enclaro.

The Binalbagan police, led by PO1 Ramie June Morales and the Bantay Dagat Task Force members, were conducting seaborne operations when they saw the fishermen using compressor and fine fishing nets, which is a violation of a municipal ordinance, the police said.

The fishermen were released later and were not charged but their fishing gear were confiscated, the police also said.

In E.B. Magalona, Bantay Dagat, the members of the Municipal Agriculturist Office and town policemen arrested Reynaldo Yanson, 60, of Talisay City and Franco Decrepito, 40, of Silay City at about 1:40 p.m. at the shorelines of Brgy. Tuboran.

The police said Decrepito and Yanson who were on board their fishing vessel were fishing within the prohibited zone. They were not charged but their fishing boat and gear were also confiscated.*APN

3 ‘wanted persons’ fall

Three men wanted by the police for different offenses were arrested in the cities of Bacolod and Victorias Wednesday.

Jeremy delos Santos, “Engke”, 21, of Ciocon Road in Brgy. 26, was arrested by Station 1 intelligence operatives Police Officer 2 Johnny dela Peña and Police Officer 1 Rolly Jardinico at about 9:50 p.m. at Lizares Extension, by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge George Patriarca, who set his bail at P40,000.

Donnie Geroche, 49 of Villa Villeta Subdivision in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod, meanwhile, was arrested by Station 4 policemen and the members of the Bacolod City Police Special Operations Group at the Triumph of the Holy Cross Church in the Baranagay at about 10:30 a.m.

Police Officer 2 Felipe Moncatar of the Bacolod City Police Warrant and Subpoena Section, said Geroche was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant for Grave Threat issued by Municipal Trial Court in Cities Judge Jose Paolo Ariola, who set his bail at P12,000.

In Victorias City, the police apprehended Ricardo Tupas, 45, of Brgy. 9 in the City, at the VMMC Compound, for violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Violence Against Women and their Children Act.

The arrest warrant for Tupas was issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Felipe Banzon, who set his bail at P12,000.*APN
