Marañon preempts rivals

Rolly Espina

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday reportedly preempted efforts by rival bets to contest his reelection as UNA bet in the forthcoming 2013 elections.

Marañon reportedly also announced that he has 17 mayors that virtually scuttled my theory of prolonged psy-war effort by a cadre of trained practitioners as behind the spate of leaks and rumors on the forthcoming choice of the UNA standard bearer in the 2013 polls.

Marañon reportedly named 17 mayors who pledged to support his reelection. But that is a far cry from the 31 mayors of the cities and towns of the province.

There was no explanation as to the reason for the premature disclosure by Marañon of his plan for reelection.

Most, suspect that it must be a move designed to preempt potential rivals from ganging up on him.

Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez is reportedly poised to contest his nomination by the UNA Coalition for the top gubernatorial post.

Alvarez reportedly had received the anointment of UNA founder and acknowledge kingmaker when the former ambassador attended the Alvarez birthday bash recently. He was with Kabankalan Mayor Isidro Zayco, a former governor who served the unfinished term of the late Governor Joseph Marañon.

A union of the political leaders of the first and sixth districts of the province could spell trouble for Marañon. Despite the claims by E.B. Magalona Mayor David Lacson, chief of the League of Local Executives of the province, that the majority of local government officials are behind Marañon’s candidacy.

But, as I had earlier said, Marañon plays the game close to his heart. And one never knows if he has aces up his sleeves.

But, yesterday’s announcement will certainly create a major ripple among the voters of the province. If he gets picked as the choice of the UNA in the forthcoming UNA assembly in August, then Marañon will still be it. But again his move yesterday virtually douses cold water to that speculation.

A rift among the UNA members may bring into the fray former Governor Rafael Coscolluela who counts a formidable array of key political figures in the province.

Well, as they say, the political game is not for amateurs to play.

I got word yesterday that a traveler who passed via Hinobaan to Bacolod found herself bogged down several times by floods which inundated the national highway from Hinobaan to Kabankalan and Himamaylan.

In short, while we were enjoying good weather in Bacolod City the rains were pounding the southern towns and two cities.

That simply points out the need to keep our ears glued to the radio reports from the South. Things can happen there without our knowledge.

For the past two days, I have been listening to Dr. Lulu Marquez, an anesthesiologist from Luzon, discussing the sudden scramble for the negative oxygenation Hydrate Alkaline tablet (NOAH).

NOAH was reportedly researched by a group of Japanese scientists and, later by an American who tested its efficacy in containing the devastation of the body by untreated water (alkaline).

Well, I am no physician and cannot swear to the efficacy of NOAH as a tablet to stem the onset of arthritis, rheumatism and other health problems such as apnea. Artheriosclerosis, lumbo-sacral defects, etc. But I have heard of several persons who claim to have been helped tremendously by the NOAH.

Dr. Marquez, for one, has the testimony of her mother, an 84 year old lady from Baguio, who had virtually been rendered almost inutile by her various ailments.

Now, she has recovered her stamina and health and she can walk daily from her house in Baguio for four blocks daily and back to attend the daily masses.

And I heard her tell how NOAH had helped cure her of the many ailments that had bothered her for some time.

Pastor Emil Henares is another one of those helped by NOAH who is now among its leading advocates. So with Baby Gonzales and several other close friends and acquaintances who swear by it.*
