Tulabing elected Dumaguete
Diocese administrator

BY MARICAR ARANAS

Msgr. Gamaliel Tulabing, parish priest of Balugo and the Canon lawyer of the Diocese of Dumaguete since 1991, was elected as Diocesan Administrator, during the meeting of the Board of Consultors at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, Friday.

Tulabing, who hails from Santa Cruz, Tanjay City in Negros Oriental, graduated cum laude in Theology and had his doctorate studies on Canon Law at the Royal Pontifical University of Sto. Tomas.

He promised to uphold the best qualities of the Diocese of Dumaguete in preparation for the new bishop, who will be assigned by the Holy See, after Archbishop John Du was transferred to Palo, Leyte on May 9.

The 12 members of the Board of Consoltors, consisting of the vicar foreign, president of the Clergy, senior and retired priests, and the group of young priests, tasked Tulabing to temporarily manage the activities of the Diocese.

Tulabing will still be the parish priest of Balugo since his duties as administrator will be limited to ensuring the continuous operation of the Diocese. The administrator also does not have the authority to transfer or reassign priests.

He appealed for support from the members of the clergy and the lay people, saying that the success of his leadership will depend on the cooperation and assistance of the priests, religious organizations and the community.*MA
