About 200 delegates from 10 affiliated churches of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines will gather for the 5th Hexagon Camp at the Silliman University in Dumaguete City, today until May 20, a press release from the school said.
The event, hosted by the SU Church, aims to reinvent the composition of the participants as it has expanded beyond what originally was a six-church framework, a reason for the name “Hexagon”, it said. The Camp will also reaffirm the six key principles of Christian leadership on calling, commitment, choice, character, community-consciousness, and Christ centeredness, the press release also said.
The participants are members of the Christian Youth Fellowship from UCCP churches in Manila, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Dumaguete, Sibulan, Bais and Tawi-tawi. Various interactive sessions aim to provide opportunities for campers to grasp and embrace the 6Cs of leadership principles, the press release said.
The sessions will start with a discussion on leadership and calling by Raymund Sanchez, a corporate executive and Silliman alumnus; on commitment by Jenny Elmaco, former president of the SU Student Government; “Leadership and Choice” by Rev. Roberto Alguso, minister of the UCCP Ellinwood, Malate; on character by businessman June Ramos; on consciousness by former Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca; and “Leadership and Christ-Centeredness” by Jose Riodil Montebon, former SU counsel, the press release also said.
The camp was established in 1996 and started as a joint summer camp between the SU Church and the UCCP Church Among the Palms of Los Baños, Laguna, the press release added.*
