Gabriela pickets at CHR
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Gabriela–Negros and the Gabriela Women's Party held a picket in front of the office of the Commission on Human Rights in Bacolod City yesterday morning to mark International Women Human Rights Defenders Day.

Clarizza Singson Dagatan, GABRIELA-Negros chairperson, said violations of the rights of women activists who are women human rights defenders have worsened under the Aquino administration and women were not exempted on the ongoing political repression and persecution.

Also at the picket was Andrea Jayme, sister of human rights lawyer Connie Brizuela who was killed in the Maguindanao massacre.

Jayme said she was also there to call on the CHR to act on rights violations against women activist.*CPG
