Antiqueños in Bacolod

Fanciful lights are now displayed in various establishments and houses in the City of Smiles .

One can now feel the spirit of Christmas, especially at Lacson Street , and in the malls that, aside from their colorful facades, are also offering their products at low prices.

Kudos to SM X'mas corner for the display of their Christmas tree.

A week-long celebration of the Western Visayas Tourism Assembly was held at SM City, recently. Our group, including Budot and Chona Flores, attended the Antique Day.

The assembly aims at highlighting, promoting and showcasing the diversity of the tourism attractions in the region, and show the colorful display of arts, craft and local products such as bag, barong, mat and colorful hablon with intricate design, and many more.

Dynamic Gov. Salvacion Zaldivar Perez of Antique welcomed guests to the Antique day, highlighted by the Banig Gown Fashion Show where everything was made of materials for making mats or “banig,” designed by couturiers from Antique. The show was the brainchild of Meridith Javier.

Closing remarks where made by Vincent. Piccio of the Provincial Board, and chairman of the Sanggunian Committee on Tourism.

Then off we went to the Bacolod Pavillon, where a number of Antiquenos were present.

Anastacion Rufon introduced all the distinguished guests in attendance headed by Mayor Bing Leonardia who delivered the welcome address, as well as Board Member Gary Acuña, who represented Gov. Joseph Marañon

Noli Legaspi delivered the closing remarks, followed by a sumptuous dinner.

Officers of the Antiqueño Sa Negros are Judge Anastacio Rufon - president, Roberto Chiongson - vice president, Benjamin Candari Jr. - secretary, Elsie Sabay – assistant secretary, Noli Legaspi – treasurer, Prima Pefianco - auditor, Romeo Baldevarona - P.R.O, Ronnie Butiong – business manager, and Celia Annabelle Balonon – assistant business manager.

Remember: God, teach me to be patient, to go slow, and how to wait on you when my way, I do not know.*
