GMA INVITED TO KEYNOTE OPENING CEREMONY
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

The Western Visayas Private Schools and Athletics Association has not yet reached the "safe amount" of P1.8 million for its hosting of this year's National PRISAA Games although it has enough funds for the costs of playing venues, billeting quarters, and other requirements, Nenitte Bajador, Iloilo PRISAA general sports manager told the DAILY STAR yesterday.

Bajador, however, added that they are working to meet the amount for the hosting of the tertiary school-based meet involving an estimated 2,500 athletes from 16 regions. She said that aside from fundraisings such as the three-kilometer 'Walk for a Cause' last March 4 and their souvenir programs, they are also counting on the contributions from the PRISAA member schools in Panay.

Bajador also confirmed that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be the guest speaker for the opening program of the games slated on April 15 but she said Arroyo's office has not confirmed her attendance yet.

She said however that they are ready to provide the necessary security measures for GMA if she decides to attend.

"We are ready to provide (Mrs. Arroyo) the safety that a president (deserves)," Bajador added.

She said that they have already requested the Iloilo City Police Office and the University of San Agustin to assign officers and interns around the Iloilo Sports Complex for maximum police visibility.* PP
