Businessman
faces drug raps
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

Bacolod City Police Office director, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, reiterated his warning against drug personalities in the city as they filed charges against a businessman for illegal possession of shabu yesterday.

Quebrar said they are monitoring the activities of a number of people engaged in peddling prohibited substances in Bacolod and they will arrest them soon. Charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were filed against Sydney Chua at the City Prosecutor's Office yesterday, he said.

Chua, 32, was arrested by BCPO Drug Enforcement Unit operatives at Libertad Extension Tuesday after a search in his house yielded three sachets of shabu, a digital weighing scale, and an electric plastic sealer, Quebrar said.

The operation was conducted on the strength of a search warrant issued by Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 4 Judge Danilo Amisola, police records showed.

Chua, who is now detained at the BCPO, did not resist arrest, Quebrar said. He added that the businessman has been on their drug watch list before he was apprehended.*PP
