Bacolod softbelles join
Philippine Series tilt

After re-aasserting their dominance in the 2012 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Meet, the champion little leaguers from ETCS, Paglaum Village National High School, and Domingo Lacson National High School, are seeing action in the Philippine Series Tournament that started yesterday at Clark Field, a press release from the Bacolod City Hall said.

The team is headed by DepEd Sports Supervisor Nenita Cordova and was provided financial support by the Local School Board chaired by Mayor Evelio Leonardia with City Schools Division Superintendent Gemma Ledesma as vice chairman, Bacolod City Executive Assistant Sammy Montoyo said.

Montoyo said the Philippine series will serve as a tune-up tournament for the Negros softbelles, who will represent Negros Occidental in the 2012 Palarong Pambansa set in Lingayen, Pangasinan next month.

Known for their outstanding performance in the diamond field, the softball girls team from the Bacolod City schools are perennial champion in the Philippine series. Champion team in the tournament will don the national colors in the Asia Pacific Softball Championship.

Last year, Bacolod City hosted the AsPac tournament with the girls from Bacolod-Negros team capturing the title against teams from Guam and China.*
