Sagarbarria orders completion
of road projects in Dumaguete

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria said yesterday he will order the fast-tracking of road projects in Dumaguete City, taking advantage of the good weather this summer.

The city will work double time in implementing projects under the local government’s 20 percent development fund, the mayor said, adding that 60 to 70 percent of these projects should be completed by July.

Sagarbarria also said that around P4 million is still available for the resumption of the boardwalk project at Rizal Boulevard.

The project construction was temporarily stopped since the heavy equipment was needed for rechanneling works on the Banica River, after a series of flood hit the city.

The mayor said he had asked the help of Political Affairs Secretary Ronald Llamas in sourcing the P23-million fund requirement, to complete the proposed extension of the boulevard.

He said he is hopeful the project, that shall extend all the way to the city port, will be completed before the end of 2012.*JFP
