MANILA – Philippine shares posted a fresh new high on yesterday as they closed at 5,157.28 points, rising by 39.82 points or 0.77 percent.
The broader all shares advanced 7.73 points, or 0.22 percent to finish at 3,420.91 points.
With yesterday's performance, the index went up 17.96 percent, year to date.
The most recent all-time high was registered on March 16 when the Philippine Stock Exchange index jumped 2.27 percent or 114.11 points, reaching 5,145.89 on improved US economic data.
Five of the six sub-indices ended in the green, led by Property which advanced 26.91 points or 1.42 percent.
Financials gained 16.11 points, or 1.27 percent and Holding firms climbed 26.78 points, or 0.62 percent.
Mining and Oil, however slid 2.85 points, or 0.01 percent.
Top gainers include Ayala Land, Inc., J.G. Summit, Shoe Mart and Banco de Oro.
There were 103 gainers against 69 losers while 40 stocks remained unchanged.
Volume traded reached 1.5 billion shares, valued at P6.7 billion.
The index reached an intraday high of 5,186.
On Monday, the index rose by 40 percent or 20.16 points to finish at 5,117.46.*PNA
