Raps filed vs. driver
for 1 dead, 3 injured

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and multiple physical injuries were filed by the police against a driver, who is now in jail, for the death of a 7-year-old boy, and for injuries of three others, during a traffic accident Wednesday in Talisay City.

The respondent, identified as Edson Pedroso, who is now detained at the Talisay police jail, apologized for the incident, stressing that it was an accident.

Fritzel Arsenio, 7, died, and his sister, Cherry Mae, 8, and two other minors, survived the traffic accident that occurred in front of the Tayabas Elementary School in Brgy. Zone 15, Talisay City, police records show.

Investigations by the Talisay police Traffic Section showed that the Cebro mini-bus driven by Pedrosa had a brake malfunction and that caused the accident.

Meanwhile, police yesterday said that the family of Eli Roderos, a disbursing officer of the Pontevedra municipal government, will no longer press charges against the driver of Negros Occidental Board Member Pedro Zayco.

Roderos was driving a motorcycle, that collided with the Toyota Fortuner vehicle of Zayco, that was driven by Elmer Garinganao, at the highway of Brgy. 1 poblacion, Pontevedra, also on Wednesday.

Garinganao has already been released by the Pontevedra police.

Zayco, accompanied by his wife, who were riding in the vehicle, said Wednesday that it was a plain and simple accident.

Expressing his sympathy to the family of Roderos, Zayco said they will also extend assistance to them.*GPB
