Scholarship
program ongoing

Scholarship applications for short skill courses under the educational assistance program in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority training for work scholarship, of Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District) are being accepted until August 31, a press release from the solon's office said.

The program is open to unemployed residents of Murcia and E.B. Magalona towns and the cities of Talisay, Silay, and Victorias, who are between 18 to 55 years old, high school graduate or college undergraduate, the press release also said.

An applicant must have taken the National Career Assessment Examination or had undergone the Youth Profiling for Starting Careers, passed the applicable pre-training assessment/entry level requirements per qualification, and not a recipient of any other TESDA scholarship.

Qualified applicants can avail of skills training in bookkeeping, commercial cooking, consumer electronics servicing, dressmaking, health care services, housekeeping, machining, massage therapy and shielded metal arc welding, the press release said.

Application requirements include the copy of the manpower profile form with picture; photocopy of high school report card; NCAE/YPSC result; certified photocopy of NSO authenticated birth certificate; result of pre-training assessment/entry level requirement; one passport size with white background, and two 1x1 ID pictures, the press release also said.

The training will be conducted in accredited schools or centers in the third district, like the Laura Vicuna Women Development and Training Center, Don Bosco Technical Institute, and La Salle College, all in Victorias, and the TESDA Regional Training Center and Mt. Hebron College, in Talisay.

Feeding benefits
545 in Pulupandan

A total of 545 daycare pupils, mothers and school employees benefited from the free feeding program of the Rotary Club of Bacolod South in Pulupandan town, Negros Occidental Saturday, its press release said.

The club, headed by Jabs Alvarez, also launched its “wheelchair for all project” program and identified the beneficiaries during the outreach feeding mission held at the municipal hall ground.

Recipients of the wheelchairs will be disabled senior citizens, and children who cannot walk due to physical deformities and disabilities. Members of the club conducted the prescreening and took note of the body measurements of recipients, for the fabrication of customized wheelchairs that will be given next month, the press release also said.

The activity was attended by Pulupandan Vice Mayor Antonio Suatengco with his wife, Sylvia, Rotarian Eugene Gawat, Pulupandan Sangguniang Bayan member Gerany Suatengco, Julie Esmeralda, Jun Lizares, Jane Lizares, Philip and Tata Lacson, Illa Luzuriaga, Percy Comia, and Rey Soliven, the press release added.*

BACGEM special
assembly tomorrow

The Bacolod City Government Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative will hold a special general assembly at the BAYS Center in Bacolod starting at 1 p.m. tomorrow, a press release from the cooperative said.

BACGEM chairman Jerome Solinap said the cooperative will distribute during the assembly the advances against its members 2012 Interest on Share Capital and Patronage Refund amounting to P2,000 per regular active member, the press release said.

The amount will be deducted in full against the members' IOSC and Patronage Refund for 2012, it also said.

The remaining unpaid amount will be deducted against subsequent OICS and Patronage Refunds until fully paid, and that in case of the resignation or termination of the member from city government service, the balance will be deducted from the terminal benefits, the press release added.*
