Highway robbers
strike in La Castellana

Highway robbers are also victimizing salesmen plying the highways of La Castellana, Isabela and Moises Padilla in central Negros Occidental.

The latest victim was a salesman of Island Merchants Corp. a distributor of Nestle products, who was robbed at gunpoint on Aug. 15, in Hacienda Bacsay, Brgy. Robles, La Castellana.

The IMC said the bandits, who were riding a Kawasaki motorcycle, overtook the vehicle of its salesman, and divested him of his P480,000 collections, a cellular phone, and a laptop.

Senior Inspector Alan Reloj, La Castellana police chief, yesterday said he is coordinating with the Isabela and Moises Padilla police, to pre-empt similar incidents, and that they are conducting regular checkpoints.

Last week, a robbery-hold-up suspect was found dead in Brgy. Inolingan, Moises Padilla, after he and his companion robbed seven teachers of personal belongings and cash.

Reloj said they also arrested a suspect, who is a Binalbagan resident, who robbed an Indian national in La Castellana, two weeks ago.* GPB
