Two armed men barged into the house of an alleged former police asset in Brgy. 27, Bacolod City, and shot him at about 8 p.m. Monday.
Nicanor Estita, 52, died at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital at about 2:30 a.m. yesterday, Station 4 chief, Senior Insp. Dianne Grace Aquitania, said.
He was hit on his wrist and thigh but the fatal shot was on his forehead, Aquitania said.
Three deformed slugs recovered from the house of Estita will be sent to the crime laboratory for cross-matching to determine from what caliber of firearms they were fired, she also said.
Investigation conducted by Police Officer 2 Roland Villeran showed that, after the shooting, the two suspects boarded a motorcycle and fled towards the downtown area with their companion.
The family, however, could not describe the suspects as they were wearing helmets, Aquitania said.
One of the angles they are looking into behind the shooting of Estita is that of his being an alleged police asset, Aquitania added.
However, City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz ordered police station 4 operatives to look for other motives for the killing that apparently included a personal grudge.
De la Paz also asked the investigators of Police Station 4 to closely coordinate with the family of Estita to find out whether he had been receiving death threats.
He said the killing was premeditated although they are yet to establish the identities of the people behind it.*APN back
