Cop linked to drugs
investigated
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A policeman is now under investigation for allegations that he is supplying illegal drugs at the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod, City Police Director, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, said yesterday.

De la Paz, however, refused to name the policeman, who holds the rank of Police Officer 1, while the investigation is still ongoing.

De la Paz ordered Intelligence Branch head, Senior Insp. Jose Mulleta, to lead the investigation and collect evidences against the policeman.

“It is a serious allegation and once it is proven to be true, the policeman will be stripped of his uniform and will also face criminal charges”, de la Paz said.

“We are members of the Philippine National Police and our mission is to enforce the law and not violate it”, he said.

He added that it is not good that, instead of performing their jobs as law enforcers, some policemen are into illegal activities, like illegal drugs.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency had disclosed before that there are policemen in Bacolod and in Negros Occidental who are under surveillance because of allegedly being into the illegal drug trade.*APN
