Police: Minor, 3 others killed
in stabbing, hacking incidents

Three men and a minor were killed in stabbing and hacking incidents in Negros Occidental on Friday and Saturday, police said.

Immediate response by police, however, led to the arrest and surrender of the two suspects in the stabbing incidents in La Castellana, SPO1 Ricardo Ledesma, town police investigator, said yesterday.

Ledesma said the two suspects in Brgys. Robles and Biak-Na-Bato, all in La Castellana, identified as Gerald Flores and Ruel Navales, were charged yesterday for murder, in connection with the killing of Alfonso Socrates Jr. and Alfredo Galvan on Sept. 7 and 8, respectively.

Flores, 21, allegedly stabbed Socrates in the chest in Brgy. Robles, La Castellana, without any provocation and the incident was witnessed by two minors, police investigations showed.

A follow-up operation by the La Castellana police led to the arrest of Flores on Sunday at his residence in Brgy. Nato of the town.

Navalez, 22, meanwhile, surrendered to the police on Saturday, a day after the fatal stabbing of Galvan in Brgy. Biak-Na-Bato, La Castellana.

Before the stabbing, Navalez and the victim had engaged in a fist fight, Ledesma said.

In Sitio Labayen, Brgy. Tuguis, Hinigaran, farm worker Glen Provido was found dead Friday in a sugarcane plantation.

Provido, both of whose hands were cut off, succumbed to multiple hack wounds, police said.

Hinigaran police probers are looking into the possibility that the suspects are also farm workers.

Meanwhile, the suspect who allegedly stabbed dead a 10-year-old boy in Brgy. Camindangan, Sipalay City, is now in jail.

The suspect, identified as Juvy Casipong, 30, was arrested by the police, in Sitio Cambugi-ot, Brgy. Camindangan, Sipalay City, last week.*GPB

Husband, widow
found dead: cop

A husband ended his life by hanging himself with a belt at their house in Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, yesterday.

On Sunday, a widow died when she fell into a hole filled with water behind her house in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod.

Anthony Morin, 25, of Calong-Calong, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, was found lifeless by his common-law-wife in their terrace at about 6 a.m. yesterday, the police said.

Morin’s common-law-wife told the police they quarreled Sunday because she went to a bar without his permission. She said she thought they had already settled the issue before they went to sleep at about 2 a.m. yesterday.

Station 8 chief, Senior Insp. Jerick Filosofo, said Morin's body will no longer be autopsied because his family believes that he, indeed, committed suicide.

Meanwhile, Lydia Diocades, 77, widow, of Purok Paghidaet, Brgy. Tangub, was found dead in a 4 feet deep hole filled with water intended for a septic tank behind their house Sunday noon.

Her daughter, Jovy Diocades, 46, said that her husband, whose name was not disclosed, saw her mother in the hole.*APN
