Support for
Pacquiao sounded off

Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao’s defeat at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez is not the end of his career and he still has the power to win in his next fight, national boxing team coach Roel Velasco said.

Velasco said he believes that while there were some lapses in Pacquiao’s defense that led to the sixth round knock out, the boxing congressman from Sarangani remains a lethal professional fighter inside the ring.

He said Pacquiao had made the Filipinos proud in his previous victories and it is not yet time for him to retire.

Pacman ready for
another fight

Manny Pacquiao says he welcomes another fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, one that would put them into an elite class of boxing champions who have met five times in the ring.

"I am going to rest and come back to fight," said Pacquiao, whose face was swollen and red after getting knocked out by Marquez in the fourth installment of their epic boxing rivalry.

Asked in the ring after the fight if he would fight Marquez again, Pacquiao replied, "I would go for a fifth."

Azkals eyes win
in Singapore

A central figure in the Philippines midfield during their first leg tie of the AFF Suzuki Cup semi-final against Singapore, Paul Mulders echoed the sentiment of his coach Michael Weiss who had said that it was “a game of two half”.

“It is a big difference between the first and second half, I had lots of energy especially after the break but I think we did pretty well.” said Mulders

“First half, we were like hiding from the ball and second half everybody has the energy and wants the ball.”
