Man hacked dead for
unknown reasons

BY MARICAR ARANAS

Dumaguete City Vice Mayor Allan Gel Cordova received a P100,000 check from the Philippine Ports Authority as donation to the victims of tropical storm  “Sendong”.

PPA Dumaguete Port manager Annie Lee Manese said the amount was collected from PPA employees nationwide. He said they divided the donations among the areas affected by typhoon Sendong that  also affected  some PPA Dumaguete employees who also  lost their homes.

They also plan to give financial assistance to their employees affected by floods, Manese said.

He said they hope that their little contribution  can help rebuild houses of victims that  were  washed out by the typhoon.

Cordova thanked  PPA Dumaguete for helping the affected families in Dumaguete.

Cordova said he will inquire from Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria about the total amount of financial assistance received by the city government for the typhoon victims. He said the mayor has the authority to allocate the financial assistance based on the rehabilitation plan approved by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.

Dumaguete City is among the ten local government units devastated by flooding due to “Sendong”.*MA
