for Fil-Sino 3rd Conference crown

Top seed Huminova Tigers will be shooting for another crown when it battle against AACI Farms in the final game of the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade 3rd Conference Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Games start at 7 p.m. with the Class B Finals between Organic Solutions and Basecom at 7 p.m., followed by the Tigers vs. Farms finals showdown in Class A.

Living up to its billing as the team to beat in the third conference, the Tigers beat AACI Trading, 86-75, in the semifinals with Yan Yan Dy and RB Chua sizzling with 25 and 21 points, respectively.

It was a sort of revenge for the Tigers against the Trading guys who gave Huminova its only loss in the elimination round.

Showing their familiarity with the Tigers’ offense, Trading managed to tie the game at 23-all in the first quarter but failed to sustain the effort in the second canto as Huminova pulled away with a 43-34 advantage at halftime.

Trying to draw AACI closer in the second half, hotshot Robbie Jalando-on scored 17 points, while teammate Danny Boy Uy scored 3 triples in the final quarter, but the Tigers almost equaled their output to remain ahead.

Jalando-on topscored for AACI Trading with 29 points, Fr. Clarence Canafe added 13, and Chibon Uy made 7 points.

Meanwhile, No. 3 AACI Farms surprised No. 2 AACI Transport, 106-83, in their semi-final match-up to arrange a titular showdown against the Tigers.

Losing to Transport twice in the eliminations, Farms managed to outscore their tormentor in the semifinals with their three-point hitmen delivering the goods.

Converting 14 attempts from the three-point arc, Farms took the lead in the first three quarters.

After a 25-21 first quarter advantage, Farms got a lift from its shooting trio of Julius Teruel, Vincent Tan, and Ritchie Militante, who scored 11, 9 and 6 points, to extend the lead to 58-44.

Teruel continued to sizzle in the third quarter as he added 9 more points to his credit, while Daniel Chiu hit two treys to push Farms to a commanding 82-57 advantage going to the fourth quarter.

Ren Ren Lacson, who led Farms’ first quarter burst, topscored with 23 points, Teruel tallied 20, Militante, Pao Pao Lim and Chiu finished with 12 points each, Nico Lopingco made 10, Tan with 9, and Guanzon had 7 points.
