Leave commutation
granted to soldiers

Government soldiers stationed in Negros island got a three-day commutation of leave credits that ranges from P2,511 to as much as P11,032, as part of the Philippine Army morale and welfare program.

Army spokesman Major Harold Cabunoc said the amount has already been released and credited to the ATM (automatic teller machine) bank accounts of each soldier.

The commutable amount, of P5, 505.38 to P11,032.99 for officers, and P2, 511.55 to P4, 980.84 for non-commissioned officers, is computed, based on the basic pay and longevity pay of military personnel.

Cabunoc said the Philippine Army prioritized the payment of the adjustments of all collateral allowances, which are dependent on the base pay of indiivual soldier, since this is programmed out of the Personnel Services funds.

He added that the payment of leave commutation is part of an “un-programmed activity”, based on the remaining funds from calendar year 2011.

Cabunoc said the Philippine Army headed by Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Bautista always has in mind the morale and welfare of the soldiers.* GPB.
