Bago residents complete
free call center training

A total of 17 call center agents from Bago City completed their free call center training recently at the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center in Bacolod City.

The scholarship was funded by Sen. Pia Cayetano, with the city Bago City government, provincial government of Negros Occidental and Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA), under the Training for Work Scholarship Program, a press release from NOLITC said.

Jocel Batapa Sigue, president of NICP and provincial consultant on ICT, told the graduates that there will be more opportunities for Negrenses in the BPO/IT sector with the construction of the Negros First Cyber Park.

Bago City Councilor Bernadatte Somcio, who represented Mayor Ramon Torres, told the graduates the city government of Bago has dedicated support to alternative learning system or non formal courses to uplift the lives of Bagoeñon, the press release added.*

‘Batang Bida’ set in Talisay

Talisay City will hold the Pasidungog Festival, its Charter Day thanksgiving celebration, February 6 – 11, a press release from the city said.

Talisay City Mayor Eric Saratan and Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) have joined forces for novel activities during the festival, like the Batang Bida sg Talisay, a search for the multi-faceted child with the best talent, outstanding wit, and personality, the press release said.

It is open to 5 to 13 year old boys and girls, it is expected to be a huge crowd drawer.

The first elimination round will be on January 28, at 3 p.m. at the Don Esteban Dela Rama Hall, Talisay City Government Center.

Those who will stand out will advance to the Second Elimination Round at the Talisay City public plaza at 6 p.m. on February 7 and compete in the grand finals at the same venue 6 p.m. on February 10.

The grand winner will receive P10,000, a trophy and a scholarship grant to the Sikat Academy Summer Workshop. The second place winner will receive P5,000 and trophy, third place winner P3,000 and trophy, and all grand finalists will receive P1,000 and certificates.

Other highlights are the Cheer and Dance Competition, Pasidungog Queen Pageant, Pasidungog Awards and the Charter Day Program, the press release added.*
