Union files case vs. hospital
for ‘unpaid wages, benefits’

The Bacolod Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital Employees Union-NAFLU-KMU has submitted its complaint for voluntary arbitration before National Conciliation and Mediation Board on the ground of alleged flagrant violation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement of their employer, BOLMSH said in a press release.

The hospital management failed to offer a proposal on how to pay the unpaid wages and benefits stipulated in the CBA, the group said.

The union alleged that the management violated the CBA signed on April 11, particularly the nonpayment of four paid rest days for four months, biennial uniform allowance, non collection of membership and union dues, and their continued refusal to grant an office for the group.

“Despite the conclusion of our CBA, the labor dispute continues because Hospital CEO Dr. Evangeline Johnson refused to implement our benefits under our CBA," Roberto Villaram of BOLMSHEU-NAFLU-KMU said in the press release.

Members of the BOLMSHEU-NAFLU-KMU and the hospital management are slated to meet on Monday at NCMB to select a voluntary arbitrator to decide on the case, it added.

The group said that it is confident of winning the case because all the benefits were agreed upon in the CBA.*
