2 titles in Toboso

The St. John’s Institute football team blanked host Toboso, 3-0, in the 10-Under category then went on to dominate Escalante, 4-1, in the 12-Under final match to capture two titles in the tournament organized in line with Toboso’s 64th Charter Day last week.

Bethany scored for the St. John’s Wild Fox and was awarded the tournament Most Valuable Player award in the 10-Under group, while Jonathan Talbot’s two goals in the 12-Under final also earned him the MVP honors.

Competition in the Boys’ 16-Under was ruled by Domingo Lacson National High School squad, while Rizal team bagged the top prize in the Girls’ 16-Under category.

Aklan withdraws bid to
host regional meet

The Aklan provincial government has withdrawn its bid to host the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet next year.

Antonino Tolentino of the Department of Education (Aklan) said the province cited lack of funds as the  reason behind the withdrawal.

Earlier, the DepEd has expressed willingness to give Aklan the right to host the WVRAA in accepting the province’s bid.
