Dads junk resolution on change in
salary payment scheme

A resolution, seeking an explanation from the executive department about the change of policy in the releases of salaries of City Hall employees in Dumaguete City, was junked by the City Council Wednesday with a vote of seven against two in favor, and three abstentions.

Councilor Joe Kenneth Arbas said he only wanted to be enlightened on the sudden change from policy where salaries are delayed by five days, or on deductions made after receiving a number of complaints.

But Councilor Nilo Sayson said it is a waste of time, in the absence of a proposed legislative measure.

Vice Mayor Alan Gel Cordova said it is within the Council’s authority rule to invite people to a question hour rather than to a special caucus.

He said that to most of City Hall employees, a five-day delay in their salaries is five days too much for them to bear.*PNA
