Cadiz eyeing share of
call center industry

Cadiz City Mayor Patrick Escalante has expressed interest in making Cadiz City a consistent source of workers or a future location for information technology and business process outsourcing jobs in the northern side of Negros Occidental, a press release from the Negros Occidental ICT Investments Program consultant said yesterday.

Local stakeholders recently attended the Northern Negros Information and Communications Technology Conference, which complemented last November’s Southern Negros ICT Conference held in Kabankalan City were initiated by the Office of Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. through the Negros Occidental ICT Investments Program with Jocelle Batapa-Sigue as consultant, the press release said.

TESDA provincial director Lorena Yunque, provided an overview of TESDA programs in support of IT-BPO industry growth.

She personally visited the existing IT training center of Cadiz to find out ways of calibrating the center so it could roll out TESDA-registered programs.

This the a second of a series of fora under the Negros Occidental ICT Conferences Project to discuss opportunities for Cadiz City and Northern Negros to share in the success and prosperity of the global ICT-BPO industry. The theme of the event is “ICT: Innovation, Creation and Transformation of Cities into Economic Growth Centers, the press release said.*
