Bacolod City College
produces 681 graduates

The 681 graduates of the Bacolod City College held their commencement rites yesterday afternoon, after the Baccalaureate mass at the Bacolod City Bays Center, a press release from the school said.

Attended by parents, school officials and faculty, Fr. Arnold Deletina, director of the Diocesan Commission on Youth, officiated at the mass.

In his homily, Deletina told the graduates that what they learned from school will determine what they will become after graduation.

He also blessed the certificates, diplomas and medals given at in during the commencement exercises, the press release added.

          The graduates and their parents performed the investiture of hoods, which each color code symbolizing the graduates’ chosen degree.

          These include the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, in Secondary Education major in English and Mathematics, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, Office Administration, in Information System as well as Associate in Information Technology, and in Information Technology, major in Civil Technology, the press release added.*

Silay joins Earth Hour

Silay City Mayor Jose Montelibano has ordered the switching off of non-essential lights in government buildings, from 8:30  to 9:30  tonight, as part of the Earth Day observance, a press release from the city said.

          Business establishments, private offices, schools, and subdivisions in Silay, through the homeowners association, are also encouraged to join the campaign for the environment, based on the challenge “I Will If You Will”.

          Silaynons are advised to use candles properly during the switch-off to prevent fires, while the Silay City Police and the Bureau of Fire Protection are on standby to monitor the situation, the press release added.*

NOSHA elects new directors

The Negros Occidental High School Alumni Association Inc. recently elected its board of directors for 2012-13, who will be inducted April 9, at the NOHS Alumni Hall, a press release from the group said.

          Edwin Galon, of class ’58, was elected president; Leoncio Garrucho, '62, vice president; Johnny Jose Aizpuru, '83, secretary; Ramonette Cordova, treasurer; Arthur Senosa, '69, auditor; and Arvin Nobleza, of class 2000, as public information officer, the press release said.

Rose Velez, of class '63, was named honorary chair of the Golden Jubilarians; with Yolanda Larena, '88, as chair of the Silver Jubilarians, the press release added.*
