B-MEG wins PBA crown

Denzel Bowles had his name etched in B-Meg’s history books last night as he converted two pressure-paced free throws to force an over time then scored 10 points in the extra period to give his team a 90-84 victory against Talk N Text to clinch in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup crown at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last night.

All praises for his 23-year-old import, B-Meg coach Tim Cone said Bowles is “too young to know”, noting the relaxed mood of the player despite the 39 points and 21 rebounds he put in last night.

The 4-3 win over the defending champion was the ninth championship in all for the franchise formerly known as Purefoods and the 14th overall for Cone, who took over just before the season started.

All because of Bowles, who got plenty of help from his teammates. PJ Simon added 14 points, Excelroof-PBA Press Corps Finals MVP James Yap 12 and Josh Urbiztondo 11, including a key layup in the dying seconds.*NAB
