TIGHT ROPE

Same sex

TIGHT ROPE
WITH MODESTO P. SA-ONOY

The movement in the United States for same sex “marriage” got a boost from US President Barack Obama. On the other hand, Obama’s position runs smack against the position of the Republican presidential contender Mitt Rommey and thus threw this issue into the political arena and can become the swing vote to retain or junk Obama from the White House.

When Manny Pacquiao expressed his opposition to the same sex “marriage” during an interview, the believers in this sexual relationship ganged up on him and labeled him as anti-gay, which is an entirely different matter.

Pacquiao explained that he is not against homosexuals but only against marriage between members of the same sex.  However, the homosexual militants who are campaigning for free speech and tolerance condemned him for his free speech and have become intolerant and even twisted Pacquiao’s words to suit their purposes.

The issue of same-sex “marriage” is not new or the sexual relationships between two persons of the same sex a modern phenomenon. The world learned of this from the Bible that tells of the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah which are perpetuated in the term “sodomy.”

The Bible tells of God’s wrath at this massive violation of the natural law that He rained fire and brimstones in the two cities and wiped them out of the face of the earth except for the family of Lot.

When God burned the two cities, He told Lot and family never to look back but the wife looked back and was turned into a statue of salt.

Of course, chances are that those who are engaged in sodomy do not believe in the Bible and therefore of the story of the two cities or their punishments; they could even be atheists, people who reject that God exists and therefore could not care less about sodomy and its consequences. Some do not believe even when they are stricken with diseases that are caused by sodomy.

The dictionary defines “sodomy” as the sexual acts between males or between members of the same sex or with animals, or unnatural sexual acts between a man and woman.

The sexual act between humans and animals is known as animalism. The modern scourge known as AIDS is believed to have originated from Africa where man had sex with a monkey.

Studies show that the highest incidence of AIDS in the Philippines is with men having sex with men (MSM). Here are the statistics.

There were “395 with new human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections within this group (MSM) from January to September 2008 alone, 96% up from 2005’s 210 reported infections. A spokesperson of the National Epidemiology Center (NEC) of the Department of Health says that the sudden and steep increase in the number of new cases within the MSM community, particularly in the last three years (309 cases in 2006, and 342 in 2007), is “tremendously in excess of what (is) usually expected,” allowing classification of the situation as an “epidemic". Of the cumulative total of 1,097 infected MSMs from 1984 to 2008, 49 percent were reported in the last three years (72 percent asymptomatic); 108 have died when reported, and slightly more MSMs were reportedly already with AIDS (28 percent).

“Among MSM's, ninety percent of the newly infected are single (up to 35 percent of past cases reported involved overseas Filipino workers or OFWs and/or their spouse), with the most of the affected people now only 20 to 34 years old (from 45 to 49 years old in the past). The highest number of infections among MSMs is from Metro Manila, though increasing infection rates were also noted in the cities of Angeles, Cebu, and Davao.”

In a sense, while there is no rain of fire and brimstone, the scourge creeps on. Man’s knowledge and technology can find no cure. The only antidote is avoidance from this unnatural act.

The “marriage” between persons of the same sex is prohibited in the Philippines but in the US the homosexual movement considers this a victory. It is pyrrhic and will only increase, authorized by law, the scourge of AIDS.

We cannot condemn people of the same sex to marry under their own rituals. They know what they are jumping into and the consequences because there are thousands of precedents of how this ends or what it entails.

What is objectionable is the use of the word “marriage” because it insults the real, natural union of man and woman and creates confusion as to what marriage is and should be.

If some people want to marry a monkey, which is possible under their concept of free choice that underlies gay “marriage” let them but should we follow? We are free to choice, but we are also duty bound to choice what is right in God’s eyes or at least true to our nature.*
